MCS Approved Installers

We are delighted to announce that Anderson Floor Warming And Renewables have gained MCS Approved Installer status for another year. In addition to Heat Pumps, for which we have been Approved Installers for many years, we have now added Solar Thermal Systems to our list.
The Microgeneration Certification Scheme certifies microgeneration technologies used to produce electricity and heat from renewable sources. It is linked to financial incentives such as the RHPP and upcoming RHI, which means that MCS certified products installed by Anderson Floor Warming And Renewables are eligible for these incentives.

South Lanarkshire College Low Carbon Houses
Anderson Floor Warming And Renewables have been specified for two low carbon houses at South Lanarkshire College, where we will be providing underfloor heating to each of the properties, one pipe in pug, and the other pipe in plate. The buildings, designed by Arcink, will incorporate Kingspan solar panels and a 4kW air source heat pump, while we will design the mechanical heat recovery ventilation system. One of the properties will meet the 2016 building standards, achieving significantly better u-values than those required , and an air tightness of zero, meaning that MHRV was the only option compliant with Section 7 of the building regulations. The other property, while similar in design, will meet the current regulations, and the College’s intentions are to demonstrate the difference between current and future standards, via a series of thermal imaging and air tightness tests. You can view a live feed of progress on site here - http://slcvle.slc.ac.uk/webcam/

Whitehouse Lodge, Isle Of Coll
Our client at Whitehouse Lodge on Isle Of Coll has been documenting the refurbishment and conversion of a former farm workers cottage into a modern dwelling. You can view some excellent photos of the construction including the installation of underfloor heating, ground source heat pump and hot and cold plumbing by Anderson Floor Warming And Renewables.
Due to be completed later in the year we will feature a full case study on the project in the future. In the meantime, the photos provide a comprehensive overview of the construction so far.

Mackintosh School of Art Degree Show 2011Anderson Floor Warming and Renewables were recently approached by the Glasgow School of Art and asked if we would like to sponsor the 2011 Degree Show where students exhibit their end of year projects in the fields of Architecture, Art and the Fine Arts. We were delighted to accept, and as you can see from the photographs opposite, we donated some underfloor heating pipe that they have used throughout the exhibition space. |

Homebuilding & Renovating ShowThanks to everyone who visited our stand at the Homebuilding & Renovating Show at the SECC last weekend to discuss their projects with us. It was another successful show and we hope that you found it worthwhile and look forward to receiving your enquiries. |
South Lanarkshire College Apprentices
Anderson Floor Warming And Renewables currently have two students on 16 week apprenticeships, as we look to maintain our links with South Lanarkshire College which began recently when we embarked on an intense training programme for all of our staff. We, along with the College and the apprentices themselves, recognise that in order to forge successful careers in the construction industry, work experience is vital. This is why we have struck up this relationship, one which we hope to maintain over the coming years, having recognised that South Lanarkshire College have a market-leading facility right on our doorstep. Indeed, the College was visited earlier this month by First Minister Alex Salmond, seen here with 2 of our apprentices, who was keen to focus on renewable energy awareness and the College’s relationship with local businesses such as ours.

5 Air Source Heat Pumps installed at Colmonell Primary School
Anderson Floor Warming And Renewables have installed 5 air source heat pumps at the new £1.5million Primary School at Colmonell.
The heat pumps will supply the hot water to the underfloor heating, which was also fitted by Anderson Floor Warming And Renewables. Click through for more details and photos.
Staff Training
Anderson Floor Warming And Renewables’ employees have all begun renewables training in conjunction with South Lanarkshire College in East Kilbride. We will be the first large renewable energy designer and installer in Scotland to have all of their installers, including third year apprentices, qualified to BPEC level in Domestic Unvented Hot Water Systems, Ground/Air Source Heat Pumps, Domestic Solar Hot Water Systems, Heat Recovery Ventilation and Essential Electrics. Our office design staff will also be taking part in an awareness course which will allow them to confidently and effectively iron out any design issues in the early stages of jobs.
Whilst installers such as ourselves are not obliged to attain BPEC accreditation, we are committed to training our staff to the highest level possible in order to maintain and improve upon the high standards of work currently enjoyed by our customers.
Renewable Heat Incentive
The long awaited Renewable Heat Incentive(RHI) has finally been announced.
Check RHIncentive.co.uk for more information. We will post more on how this will affect our customers soon.

New Project added - Baldow House
This is a particularly interesting project as the heat pump uses ground (pond) collectors sunk in a man made pond, as well as boreholes more commonly used in similar projects. This works the same as a ground source heat pump, but takes its energy from the water at the bottom of the pond which is at a constant temperature suitable for the heat pump.
