The former Kelvinside Parish Church at the junction of Byres Road and Great Western Road was founded in 1862, and historically has had a distinguished role to play in the history of the West End for some years, before being refurbished in 2002-2004 into 2 bars, 2 restaurants, a nightclub and a stunning event space.
The Oran Mor contains a painted ceiling by artist Alasdair Gray, one of Scotland's largest pieces of public art.
The top floor involved the construction of a completely new floor within the void in the upper part of the church, which is fully underfloor heated using a pipe in plate system on timber battens, overlaid with a prestigous herring-bone hardwood floor.
