Balgonie, West Linton

Anderson Floor Warming designed, supplied and installed a Vaillant flexoTHERM ground source heat pump with a horizontal ground collector in trenches, a 300litre hot water cylinder, underfloor heating to ground and first floors, heating primary plumbing, hot & cold primary and secondary plumbing throughout. Commissioned in August 2019.

East Cambusmoon Farm, Gartocharn

Directors of Lomond Energy Renewable Energy Consultants aimed to build their new home to use less than 1/5th of the energy of current building standards , however were pleased to discover that actually they are using 25% less energy than they expected, with their combination of ground source heat pump, underfloor heating, 1.08kw solar PV array mounted on the south facing roof, and Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery. Anderson Floor Warming designed, supplied and installed NIBE Fighter 1240 ground source heat pump, heating primary distribution, serving underfloor heating pipe on mesh, laid within the structural concrete floor to increase thermal mass.

Our joint free PEX pipe hot and cold primary system distributes the mains pressure hot and cold water to the secondary manifolds throughout the property.

Their blog details the construction of the property, focussing on the environmental issues involved:

Tigh Na Dobhran

RIAS Best Building in Scotland Award Finalist 2008
GIA Design Award 2008

This award-winning house is situated in a stunning open beachside setting. The form of the house is influenced by its surroundings and aspects, organised on a split level section responding to height restrictions and contours of the site.

Underground garage and storage form the heel of the building towards the road, the point of arrival from afar. Half a storey up and towards the sea are the main living spaces including kitchen, exposed sea room and more sheltered snug. Half a storey up again and back towards the road are the family bedrooms whilst at the highest level overlooking the sea is a master bedroom suite.

Anderson Floor Warming design, supplied and installed Nibe ‘Fighter’ 1120 15kW Ground Source Heat Pump, utilising boreholes linked via our joint free pre-insulated PEX heating primary system to the underfloor heating system, utilising pipe in screed on both floors.

Pre-insulated joint free PEX pipe hot and cold primary systemdistributes the pressurised hot and cold water to the secondary manifolds throughout the property.

Steading, Auchoish, Lochgilphead

A combination of upgrading of existing farmhouse, and renovation and conversion of steading outbuildings, this project features a NIBE ‘Fighter’ Ground Source Heat Pump, utilising borehole collectors, linked via our joint free pre-insulated PEX heating primary system to the underfloor heating system, which utilises a pipe in screed system on the ground floor levels, and pipe in plate system on the joisted 1st floor level. The existing farmhouse utilises a radiator system also served from the ground source heat pump on a separate temperature curve.

Pre-insulated joint free PEX pipe hot and cold primary system distributes the pressurised hot and cold water to the secondary manifolds throughout the property. The hot water secondary return system is pumped, timed and thermostatically controlled to maximise efficiency and minimise energy consumption.

A wind turbine is utilised to offset the electricity consumption of the ground source heat pump.

Estate House, Perthshire

Timber Kit construction by Rob Roy, utilising a NIBE ‘Fighter’ 22kW Ground Source Heat Pump, docked with an oil fired boiler and solar thermal system, in an external plant room. Pre-insulated heating primary pipework is distributed from the plantroom to the property, serving pipe in screed underfloor heating on the ground floor, and pipe in pug on the 1st and 2nd floors. Pre-insulated hot and cold water primary pipework is also distributed to hot and cold secondary manifolds throughout the property, combined with domestic hot water secondary return to ensure instantaneous hot water at all outlets. The hot water secondary return system is pumped, timed and thermostatically controlled to maximise efficiency and minimise energy consumption.

Wester Balquhandy, Dunning

Anderson Floor Warming designed, supplied and installed a Nibe ‘Fighter’ 1140 12 kW Ground Source Heat Pump utilising a ground collector loop and a Nibe ‘Fighter’ 2005 12kW Air Source Heat Pump linked via our joint free pre-insulated PEX heating primary system to the underfloor heating system, utilising pipe in staple in a screeded floor. Pre-insulated joint free PEX pipe hot and cold primary system distributes the pressurised hot and cold water to the secondary manifolds throughout the property.

New House, Milton Of Campsie

Anderson Floor Warming designed, supplied and installed Nibe ‘Fighter’ 1140 15kW Ground Source Heat Pump with a 450/300 VPAS domestic hot water cylinder, utilising ground collector loops linked via our joint free pre-insulated PEX heating primary system to the underfloor heating system, utilising pipe in plate on both floors.

In addition to this, Anderson Floor Warming also did the design, supply and installation of a mechanical heat recovery ventilation system.

Kintraw

Anderson Floor Warming designed, supplied and installed Nibe ‘Fighter’ 1140 12kW Ground Source Heat Pump with a domestic hot water cylinder linked via our joint free pre-insulated PEX heating primary system to the heating system, utilising pipe in rail to the ground and lower ground floor, and pipe in pug underfloor heating on the first floor.

Pre-insulated joint free PEX pipe hot and cold primary system distributed the mains pressure hot and cold water to the secondary manifolds throughout the property.

Mossgeil Farm

A new build house at Mossgeil Farm in Ayrshire. Anderson Floor Warming And Renewables designed, supplied and installed a ground source heat pump and underfloor heating to the ground and first floor.

The ground source heat pump is a Vaillant 10kW geoTHERM. This supplies the domestic hot water and the underfloor heating system. The ground floor uses the popular pipe in staple system and the first floor uses our pipe in plate system on the wooden joist floor.

The heat pump is connected to two 300m length horizontal collectors laid out in the field behind the house 1m below ground level.

Baldow House

Anderson Floor Warming designed, supplied and installed Nibe ‘Fighter’ 1330 30kW Ground (Water) Source Heat Pump with a 450/300 VPA domestic hot water cylinder linked via our joint free pre-insulated PEX heating primary system to the heating system, utilising a mixture of pipe in screed underfloor heating, radiators and towel rails.

The heat pump is connected to collectors from three boreholes and also a pond collector loop in a man made pond within the ground of the property.

The pond where the collector loops are sunk to get energy for the ground source heat pump.

Pre-insulated joint free PEX pipe hot and cold primary system distributed the mains pressure hot and cold water to the secondary manifolds throughout the property.
