Maritime Hub, Ardrishaig

The Maritime Hub project was a renovation of an existing building with a new extension which included a museum and a communal space to be used for the local community. The project included a Mitsubishi Ecodan air source heat pump serving underfloor heating throughout, with the hot water demand being met with electrical point heaters. The heat pump was installed to MCS standards and is RHI compatible and the pumps used were twin head, Grundfos Magna3 pumps which provide failsafe and high flow rates. Anderson Floor warming was also involved with the Mapei Topcem screeding and Mapei Ultratop floor finish works. the finish chosen was a premium concrete-like look, extended up the wall & columns, and is hard-wearing to increase the lifetime of the building. This project presented unique challenges due to the proximity to water and the distance of the heat pump to the plant room.

Avenel, Kilmacolm

A luxury 6 house development in Kilmacolm, this exclusive estate covers eight acres of secluded gardens and mature woodland. Each house is positioned sensitively to preserve the distinctive character and charm of its superbly planned grounds.

Having successfully completed plot 1 (pictured), Anderson Floor Warming are working on plots 2 to 5, which will include heat recovery ventilation systems, with the options of solar hot water and wood burning stoves.

The system in Plot 1 is powered by gas fired modulating condensing boiler situated in the garage. The pre-insulated joint free PEX pipe heating primary pipework is distributed to underfloor heating manifolds on the ground and first floor pipe in screed underfloor heating system, and to solar ready 500 litre domestic hot water cylinder situated in coms/plant room.

Pre-insulated joint free PEX pipe hot and cold primary system distributed the mains pressure hot and cold water to the secondary manifolds throughout the property. The hot water secondary return system is pumped, timed and thermostatically controlled to maximise efficiency and minimise energy consumption.

East Cambusmoon Farm, Gartocharn

Directors of Lomond Energy Renewable Energy Consultants aimed to build their new home to use less than 1/5th of the energy of current building standards , however were pleased to discover that actually they are using 25% less energy than they expected, with their combination of ground source heat pump, underfloor heating, 1.08kw solar PV array mounted on the south facing roof, and Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery. Anderson Floor Warming designed, supplied and installed NIBE Fighter 1240 ground source heat pump, heating primary distribution, serving underfloor heating pipe on mesh, laid within the structural concrete floor to increase thermal mass.

Tigh Na Dobhran

RIAS Best Building in Scotland Award Finalist 2008
GIA Design Award 2008

This award-winning house is situated in a stunning open beachside setting. The form of the house is influenced by its surroundings and aspects, organised on a split level section responding to height restrictions and contours of the site.

Underground garage and storage form the heel of the building towards the road, the point of arrival from afar. Half a storey up and towards the sea are the main living spaces including kitchen, exposed sea room and more sheltered snug. Half a storey up again and back towards the road are the family bedrooms whilst at the highest level overlooking the sea is a master bedroom suite.

Anderson Floor Warming design, supplied and installed Nibe ‘Fighter’ 1120 15kW Ground Source Heat Pump, utilising boreholes linked via our joint free pre-insulated PEX heating primary system to the underfloor heating system, utilising pipe in screed on both floors.

Steading, Auchoish, Lochgilphead

A combination of upgrading of existing farmhouse, and renovation and conversion of steading outbuildings, this project features a NIBE ‘Fighter’ Ground Source Heat Pump, utilising borehole collectors, linked via our joint free pre-insulated PEX heating primary system to the underfloor heating system, which utilises a pipe in screed system on the ground floor levels, and pipe in plate system on the joisted 1st floor level. The existing farmhouse utilises a radiator system also served from the ground source heat pump on a separate temperature curve.

A wind turbine is utilised to offset the electricity consumption of the ground source heat pump.

Estate House, Perthshire

Timber Kit construction by Rob Roy, utilising a NIBE ‘Fighter’ 22kW Ground Source Heat Pump, docked with an oil fired boiler and solar thermal system, in an external plant room. Pre-insulated heating primary pipework is distributed from the plantroom to the property, serving pipe in screed underfloor heating on the ground floor, and pipe in pug on the 1st and 2nd floors. Pre-insulated hot and cold water primary pipework is also distributed to hot and cold secondary manifolds throughout the property, combined with domestic hot water secondary return to ensure instantaneous hot water at all outlets. The hot water secondary return system is pumped, timed and thermostatically controlled to maximise efficiency and minimise energy consumption.

The Metro, West Graham Street, Glasgow

The Metro is an elegant landmark building standing graciously on the corner of West Graham Street. The Metro comprises 46, studio, 2 & 3 bedroom apartments with secure allocated parking. Its cool international lines and chic metropolitan retro interiors provide an alternative to the plethora of apartments springing up all over the city.

Anderson Floor Warming Limited designed, supplied and installed underfloor heating throughout all of the 46 apartments. The pipe in plate system was utilised on timber sprung battens with insulation between, to give both acoustical properties and provide a “soft” feel to the floor to remove the hard feeling of a solid concrete floor. The floor finish is solid hardwood throughout living areas with tiles in bathrooms.

Carnoch, Glencoe

Anderson Floor Warming designed, supplied and installed a Nibe ‘Fighter’ 2005 8kW Air Source Heat Pump linked via our joint free pre-insulated PEX heating primary system to the underfloor heating system, utilising pipe in staple in a screeded floor. Radiators supply heat to the first floor with towel rails in the bathrooms on each floor.
